Dr. Feelgood and The Nerd.

Well, I can't believe another Christmas has come and gone. It went by so fast and here we are on the eve of another new year. It has been a crazy, stressful, happy, sad, exciting year....but lets just say I am ready to move on to a new one. I have high hopes for 2011.

Anyways, a few highlights from our Christmas this year:
1. Chase got her x-ray machine. It never occurred to me that people would think it was an actual machine. I always called it an "x-ray machine" because thats what Chase calls it. Its not an actual machine. Its a doctors station that came with 8 different x-rays that can be put in the top part of it, so this way when you are playing doctor you can pretend you are taking an x-ray of someone. Then as the doctor, you can inspect the x-ray and inform your patient what the problem is. People have asked me what it does. I'm like "what do you mean?". And they are like "well, its a machine. Doesn't it do something?". I'm like "No."
Anyways, there is a little doctors badge that came with it. The name on the badge is Dr. Feelgood, so when Chase has that badge on she is Dr. Feelgood. And just know that if you ever have the need for an x-ray, Dr. Feelgood is your girl.
2. Cohen received a little laptop. Chase has one, and he always wanted to play with it, so Santa brought Cohen one this year. My Dad also gave him a little desk. Watching Cohen sit as his desk while he "types" on his laptop is one of the cutest and nerdiest things I have ever witnessed. (not that sitting at a desk typing on a laptop is nerdy, but its more the way he does it that can be described as "cute/nerdy".)
3. Cohen and Chase also received a rocking horse. Watching Cohen rock on it can be described in one word. Terrifying.
4. 2 things that Santa brought for Chase that I quite enjoyed can be found here and here. They are both great gifts for any girl that likes to craft. I wanted to get the little sewing machine for her, but I figured she is still a little young for that.

CUTE NERD ALERT!

Let me introduce you to Dr. Feelgood. Here we have her taking my x-rays then filling out my prescription.

on the left: Chase in front of the x-ray machine.
on the right: Cohen on a zebra, trying on the Dr. Feelgood glasses. We take turns being Dr. Feelgood.

Here is Chase modeling her bug bracelets. This was another thing she informed me numerous times that she had to have. Those are real dead bugs in the bracelets. They are not pretend. They are real. I seriously have a hard time even looking at them because those suckers are HUGE.

Blurry picture of Chase riding this thing. What in the frack are they called? I can never remember.

On the left: I got a new sweater. Get excited.
On the right: Cohen wears Chase's fairy wings. I like his expression and stance. To me it says, "Yeah I'm wearing fairy wings. So what?"

Cohen rides rocking horse. This I have a hard time watching, because watching him on that thing scares the crap out of me. I already now that one day he will fly over the front of it. With the way he rides it it is inevitable.

And that is all I have to say about Christmas this year.

Happy New Year everyone.
I hope your new years eve is spent with people you love, and that 2011 is a good year for us all.

One of the best Christmas presents I have ever received.

I don't know if I have ever mentioned on this blog what an amazing artist my little sister is.
She is only 11. Her talent blows me away.

About 6 months ago I told her I wanted her to paint me something. She told me she would be happy to, but that in order for her to do it I would just need to give her an image or two to show her what I had in mind. I gave her a couple images and told her "This is the look I am going for, but work your magic and do what you want." I wanted something vintage and girly looking.

I hadn't thought much about it after I gave her the images. So on Christmas I was very surprised to open my present from Ady and find this amazing painting inside.
I am not even kidding you, I got a little choked up. I was blown away. I was so touched.

One of the pics I gave her had some books in it, so she incorporated the books into the painting, but she gave them titles that weren't in the original pic. I love the titles, and I love that she put "Little Women" in there, because it is one of my fav books/movies.

Anyways, I could go on and on about how much I love this painting (and you should see all the other ones she has done A.MAZ.ING). As soon as we got home I hung it up. These past few days I have had moments where I found myself just standing there staring at it.
I love it and will cherish it forever, not only because it is so good and 10 times better than anything I could have ever imagined, but even more so because my amazingly talented little sister painted it just for me. I mean, like I said, she is only 11. I can only imagine what the future holds for her amazing talent.

I don't feel like the pictures I took of the painting really do it justice. They make the painting look darker than it actually is.....but they will have to do.

Master gingerbread house craftswomen...and a few other things.

A few nights back we did our annual ginger bread house making at Nanna and Grandpa's house.
Chase and I are clearly really good in the area of ginger bread house making. We are also really good at not only decorating the house, but eating the decorations as well. Before we did the gingerbread houses we all went swimming at the Holiday Lions rec center. I had never been there but was pleasantly surprised at how fun the little kids area of the pool was. Both Chase and Cohen had so much fun. Watching Cohen truly was hilarious.
I will not be posting pics of that outing.
But just know that it was fun.
Now that you have that knowledge you are complete.

Cohen and Gaige raided the toy cupboard at Nanna and Gramps while we got down to the gingerbread house making business.

Speaking of fun things at Nanna and Grandpa's, here we have 2 pics my Mom sent me yesterday. She and Chase built a snow man and did snow angels.

Sometimes my life is really peaceful. That is, when Cohen is asleep!!!
Zing!
But seriously he has eye lashes for miles, and all I want to do is kiss his rosy cheeks.

Here is Chase sitting beside my Grandma's (so Chase's Great Grandma's) Christmas village. My Grandma sets it up under her tree every year, and this year Chase and I went over and helped her set it up. My Great Grandma actually made the whole village, houses and everything. I absolutely love it. I love the vintage look and feel of the whole little village. Chase loved it to:)

The end.

Guilty.

Garlic powder all over the kitchen floor. The perpetrator looking at me with that look of guilt that is becoming so common around here.

Do not let his sweetness fool you.

The first chance he gets he will dump all the contents of the spice cabinet all over the kitchen floor. And the best part? The best part is that it isn't actually our kitchen floor, and those aren't actually our spices. It is Jamison's Dad's and Step-mom's kitchen floor, and its becoming more and more apparent every day that Jamison's Step-mom will be coming home to no more spices.
It doesn't matter how tight you screw the lid on. It doesn't matter how many times you tell him no and get up set with him. He will keep right on doing it. And if you don't catch him in time, if you aren't alert 24/7, he will dump out a few jars, then proceed to sit in it, then walk in it, then walk all over the carpet, so now its all over the carpet and kitchen floor. There is nothing this kid can't figure out how to do when it comes to causing havoc. Every day I tell myself I just need to make room somewhere else for all the spices...but I have no excuses other than I just never do, and on a daily basis he dumps another few jars of spices out.

He thinks its funny. Then when I get upset he gives me this look that says "I'm trying with all my might to hold back the tears because you have hurt my feelings, and look at my cute face with my bottom lip sticking out, and then really try to get mad because I don't think you can."
And...he is right.

Dumping spices all over the floor is just the tip of the ice berg. This kid has done it all.

Just to list a few:

-Christmas tree pulled over twice
-hands in toilet
-hands in pee in toilet
-throws whatever is lying around in toilet
-will climb whatever is handy to get to whatever is up high
-will smack tv in attempt to knock tv over
-if he has access to dvd's for to long he will break them in 2
-any cabinet, cupboard, or drawer that is within reach will be emptied numerous times through out the day.

When ever we go to someone else's house I basically turn into a huge ball of stress. You basically have to follow him around the whole time if you don't want to him to ruin or get into anything. It will be nice when this whole phase is over.

I thought I had things at least kind of figured out after going through this whole age with Chase, but I didn't have sh#% figured out. This kid is a whole different story. Whole different ball game. The second he walks up to me and says "ah oh", my heart skips a beat because I am never quit prepared for whatever it is he is about to show me.

The best was the time Chase yelled at me from the bathroom, "Mom, I just went pee and Cohen had his hands in the toilet the whole time." Its when a mother hears things like that that she just wants to crawl in bed and hope that somehow, without her, things will straighten themselves out.

But I also know that a few years from now we will look back on the craziness and laugh.

And really, no matter what that kid does, I just can't stay mad. I can't not tell him "NO!", then find myself tickling and kissing his cheeks 10 seconds later. He basically has us all wrapped around his finger....and apparently he knows it.

The time my kids cooperated and we got some great Christmas pictures.

Once upon a time my friend Sophia had a boutique at her house. The best part of the boutique was that all the proceeds went towards a really good cause.
So, in a nut shell, you buy cute things, your $$$ helps someone who needs it.
I liked the idea.
I liked even more that as part of said boutique you could get your kids pics taken for a very small price. I took advantage.
Imagine my surprise when we arrived and 10 minutes later my kids had got there pictures taken, and they both cooperated and smiled and it was smooth sailing.
I like when things like that happen. You are expecting to have to work hard to get just one good pic, and low and behold your kids are all set to ham it up for the camera. Christmas miracle indeed.
Thanks Sophia for making it happen, and big thanks to Angie for taking the fabulous pictures.

Dance demonstration

Wednesday was Chase's dance demonstration.
She spent a good few hours Tuesday practicing.
And by practicing I mean standing on her table dancing for her elephants, pretending to be Mrs. Kim, her dance teacher.

Then the actual dance demonstration. Her teacher doesn't like doing recitals for kids Chase's age (3-5yrs old) So instead of a recital, she does a demonstration where the last class of the semester the parents are allowed to come inside and she has the girls demonstrate all the things they have been working on the past 6 months.
It actually amazes me how disciplined and well behaved all these young girls are in the class.
You can definitely tell Mrs. Kim has been doing this for awhile.
She has got all these little girls wrapped around her finger.

Cohen made a few appearances during the performance. He would poke his head in, then run off to get back to whatever havoc he was currently causing.

From mullet to bowl cut {updated}.

(let it be known that I totally thought it was called a bull cut, until my husb and I were just laying in bed and he's reading this blog, and asks me "whats a bull cut?", and I'm like "what do you mean?". Then he corrected me and we laughed really hard about it for a few minutes. Hello Jamie! I need to get more sleep. Then maybe I won't be so idiotic all the time)
This is my mischievous little man doing one of the many mischievous things he does. Crawling in the dryer. Unfortunately, in these past few months we have found ourselves with a mischievous little man with a mullet. I am all about chopping the mullet, but really I am in love with Cohen's red curly hair, and I guess I wasn't so much seeing a mullet as I was seeing long luxurious curls.
My bad.
When we went to St. George over thanksgiving the mullet provided some good entertainment for the whole family.
(See below mullet/pony tail pics).
After the mullet laughter had died down I realized it was time to chop the luxurious curls (aka mullet) off, so when we got home thats just what I did.
Hello mullet pony tail.

Front shot of mullet. Total party in the back.

Good bye mullet.

I am not a hair stylist. Surprise! My whole thinking was that I would just chop off the mullet then attempt to clean up any stragglers and his hair would look good as new.
Not smart.
I cut his hair WAY to short and now it totally looks from the back like he has a slightly grown out bowl cut. Remember when those were cool in the late 80's/early 90's?
Welcome to 2010. They aren't cool anymore...yet my son has one (and its hard to tell from the pic I took, but its the best I could do). Jamison was not pleased when he first came home and saw it.
But we have learned that the hair on the back of his head grows super fast (lesson learned from mullet. Thanks mullet).
I mean, I took this pic almost a week ago, and already his hair is starting to grow out.
Needless to say Cohen's hair has remained a source of entertainment for us all. Well, I guess its my mad hair cutting skillz that are the entertainment now.
And luckily Cohen is so very handsome his hair matters not.

k, bye.

Santa now, and Santa then.

Here we have Chase on Santa's lap a few nights ago.
(and don't worry, I don't put side pony tails in my daughters hair. She actually has 2 pigtails in. The other one is just not visible in the pic.)

And here we have Marilee, Chase's Grandma sitting on Santa's lap over 60 yrs ago.
I love this picture.

And let it be known that the only thing Chase told Santa she wanted for Christmas was an x-ray machine. Santa thought she was saying she wanted an ice-cream machine. For some reason, even after I corrected him, he couldn't quit grasp the idea that she wanted an x-ray machine, not an ice-cream machine.
Don't worry Santa.
We got it covered.

Hello, Santa?

I like to dance. I want this game. The commercial for said game has convinced me that good times would be had by all if I owned it.

Thank you Santa Clause.
Ho Ho Ho.

Sincerely,

Jamie

Holiday Boutique

If you are in or around the Bountiful area this weekend, or if your just looking for a super cute hand made Christmas gift, then head on over to this marvelous boutique.
Mine and Emily's fabric flowers will be one of the goodies for sale. Really I can't think of a better gift for any girl then a bouquet of adorable fabric flowers in an adorable vase....besides all the other great handmade things that will be available. You must check it out!

(Here is a pic I stole from Emily's blog, just so you can get an idea of what the flowers look like. These were all made by Emily. She is master of the flower making craft. She taught me how its done.
Are they fabulous or what!
I wasn't kidding when I said the perfect gift for any girl.)
